Why I Started The Pipe Guy

My name is Leon Whelan, and I set up The Pipe Guy with a pretty simple idea in mind.

What I kept noticing was the gap between what homeowners expect and what they actually get. Vague time windows. No-shows. Prices that change at the end of the job. Frustrated people who just wanted the job done right.

So I went out on my own. The Pipe Guy is built on a simple idea: do what you say you'll do, do it well, and charge a fair price. That's it. That's the whole business model.

Most of my work comes from word of mouth in Kildare and the surrounding area. That tells me something. When you treat people properly and do the job right, they tell their neighbours. That's the kind of business I want to run.

I'm not the biggest plumbing company in Kildare. I don't want to be. I want to be the one people trust, the one they call again, and the one they recommend to their friends.

When I give you a time, I'm there. I know how frustrating it is to sit at home waiting for a tradesman who doesn't show. My customers' time matters as much as mine.

The Quote Is the Price

I quote before I start. The number I give you is the number on your invoice. No surprises at the end of the job, I don't work that way, and I wouldn't accept it from anyone working in my own home.

I Treat Your Home With Respect

I leave a job site clean. I protect floors and surfaces. I don't leave a mess for you to deal with. Your home is someone else's workspace, I never forget that.

I Stand Over My Work

All work is fully guaranteed. If something isn't right, I come back and fix it, no call-out charge. That's not a marketing line. It's how I run my business.

I Tell You What You Need, Not What Costs More

I'll always give you an honest assessment. If there's a simpler or cheaper solution that does the job, I'll tell you. I'd rather have a repeat customer than a padded invoice.

A Note on Gas Work

The Pipe Guy focuses exclusively on plumbing, we don't carry out gas installation or boiler servicing. For any gas-related work, you'll need a registered RGI gas installer. We'll always point you in the right direction.

Are you a sole trader or a company?

The Pipe Guy is a sole trader. When you call, you deal directly with me, there's no call centre, no subcontractor mystery. You know who's coming to your door and you can hold me accountable. That's exactly how I like it.

Do you carry out gas or boiler work?

No, I focus exclusively on plumbing. Gas installation and boiler work must be carried out by a registered RGI gas installer. I don't do gas work and won't take it on. If you need a recommendation for a qualified RGI installer in the area, feel free to ask me.

What areas do you cover?

I'm based in County Kildare and cover the wider Kildare area, Naas, Newbridge, Athy, Celbridge, Maynooth and surrounding towns. I also cover South and West Dublin and the Portlaoise/Laois area. If you're unsure, give me a ring and I'll let you know straight away.

Can I get a quote before committing to anything?

Absolutely, quotes are always free and come with no obligation. For smaller jobs I can usually give a price over the phone. For larger work I'll visit to size things up and give you an accurate number. You decide whether to proceed. No pressure.
